The Eden Riesling is produced from a single vineyard of five acres (two hectares) in the heart of the Eden Valley region, established in the 1970s. These old vines cling to the poorest soils on the Poonawatta property; the lean environment keeping the yields low, the flavours concentrated and the fruit pure. A minimalist approach is taken to all aspects of vineyard management to ensure low yielding vines that maximise fruit intensity. Irrigation is used only to maintain canopy health, not to increase fruit production with average yields at two tonne to the acre. Only free run juice was used in the making of our 2017 Riesling, to capture the purity of the variety and the clearest possible expression of the site.
